There are time differences between North America and China (e.g.12 hours difference between Toronto and Beijing in summer); work hours in North America are off hours in China. It may not be convenient to contact people in China in their off hours. Since we are located in Canada, it would be easier for those in North America to reach us particularly for an urgent patent filing.
